A TIME TO WELCOME AND
SAY GOODBYE
The NEXCO Reunion of ICYM was held on December 13 and 14,
2008 at Yusuf Sadan, New Delhi. The programme started with
welcome speech by Fr. Alwyn M.J D’Souza, National
Director of ICYM. After which the members present were honored
with a scarf, as a token of love and gratitude. It was followed
by a short procession into the CBCI chapel and Holy Mass
led by Rev. Bp. Vincent Samuel, Rev. Bp. Cyprian Monis and
Fr. Joel D’cunha, our honored chief guests.
After
a short tea break, the participants were gathered in the
Yusuf Sadan auditorium. The introductory session was conducted
by Sr. Maria, leading all into a group activity of animation
songs. It was followed by welcome speech by Sajish Jose,
ICYM National Youth President and each of the participants
introduced themselves. Before breaking for lunch, a presentation
on the birth and growth of ICYM called “ICYM Burgeoning”
was made.
After lunch, discussions were held on Associate Membership
of ICYM, which would collaborate with ICYM, supporting and
promoting it in every step that it takes. After the sharing
by the members of batch V, where they presented something
about themselves to the gathering, the first draft on Associate
Membership was presented to debate and discuss upon. It
was moderated by Mr. Amit Prabhu, former Spokes Person of
ICYM. After discussions and deliberations a core team consisting
of eight members namely, Mr. Amit Prabhu, Mr. Roshan Alexander,
Mr. Anthony John, Mr. Rakesh Singh, Mr. Albert Romanto,
Ms. Michelle Sherard, Mr. Sajish Jose and Mr. S.L Peter
was formed to modify the draft. The members decided to email
the modified second draft before 10th of January 2009, to
each other through a group email ID.
After
this meeting, each of the previous batches shared their
experiences as ICYM NEXCO Members, via presentations and
speeches. At 7:30 Taize prayer was conducted. After the
prayer Christmas -cum- reunion party was arranged on the
terrace of the Yusuf Sadan. It began with the cutting of
the Christmas cake by Rev. Bp. Vincent Samuel, Rev. Bp.
Cyprian Monis, Fr. Joel D’cunha and Sr. Maria Goretti
Sangma. Everybody present there enjoyed the fun filled night
of dancing and singing. The morphed posters made by Bettin,
added fun to the occasion.
The second day commenced with breakfast at 8 a.m., followed
by a thanksgiving mass in the Auditorium. After mass and
tea the formal function of Sr. Maria’s Farewell began.
The two hour programme was not void of its share of tears
and heart felt gratitude from the members present towards
sister and vice-versa. The true meaning and essence of what
a family is like was felt during the program, as Sr. Maria
said in her speech, parting is such sweet sorrow.
The Reunion meeting came to an end giving the message;
“Togetherness is the key, because teamwork, as it
has always been noticed, is the hallmark of an organization
which allows us to do great things.”
