Mandya, July 10 : ICYM Diocese of Mandya celebrated the Syro-Malabar Youth day in a grand manner on 8th Sunday, 2012 at Infant Jesus Cathedral, Mysore.  The youth delegates from different units and colleges made their way the Cathedral in the wake of the early morning.  The celebration started with the Holy Mass at 8.00 am, led by His Excellency Mar George Njaralakkatt, Bishop of Mandya.

 

 

 

Mr. Jaison Kurian, the Treasurer and Mr. Preetham Mathew, the Unit President received the ICYM Flag and the Candle from the Bishop during the ceremony towards the end of the Holy Mass. Miss. Sanjana George, the diocesan general secretary, addressed the entire youth and the others gathered in the Cathedral Ground and explained the accomplishments and the upcoming programmes of the Movement. 

 

 

 

When, Mr. Jeswin Joseph, the Diocesan Youth President, hoisted the flag thereafter, a big round of applause echoed in the air. The Anthem, sung by the choir then, created a new enthusiasm and zeal in the mind of everyone to dedicate themselves in the ministry of youth. The delegates were invited to break their fast and loose their ice. It was a wonderful mingling of the youth irrespective of male or female, student or a professional or anything of that kind. During the meeting the delegates interacted with the Bishop and shared their experience of ICYM expressed their joy of being a part of it.  In his response the bishop stressed the point that the ‘youth are the Church’.

 

 

Mr. Manu John, the diocesan joint treasurer, handed over the study materials to the bishop, to support the children of the HIV infected, living in the surrounding of the district of Mandya. Very Rev. Fr. George Alukka, Mr. Jeswin Joseph, Mr. Leo and Miss Surya Vinod felicitated. The members of the DEXCO were entrusted the charge of different colleges to facilitate the further programmes. With the words of gratitude by Miss Hathel, the diocesan joint secretary, the public meeting came to an end. Dancing and praising, the vibrant young minds marched towards the dinner point before leaving to their shelters.
