Guwahati, Oct, 14: The regional youth talent festival was held at the auditorium of Don Bosco School, Panbazar here on October 12-13 on the theme ‘Arise North East Youth for peace and Intergration’.Organized by the North Eastern Regional youth commission to provide a platform for talented youths of the North East, the festival included quiz shows as well as song and dance competitions.

 


Out of a total 15 dioceses of the North East, participants and representatives of 11 dioceses took part in the festival, showcasing their talent in music as well as in quizzing.

On the evening of October 12, the formal opening ceremony started with the lighting the ceremonial lame by Archbishop of guwahti John Moolachira, in presence of Bishop of Itanagae  Rt.Rev.John Thomas, Regional Youth Director of NERYC Fr.Marcus Lakra, the host School principal Fr.Anthony  Thekkel and the other guests.

This was followed by a cultural program, where participants from all the 11 dioceses of varied ethnicity perform their respective cultural items of song and dance.

On October 13, the festival began with morning prayers followed by the holy Eucharist presided over by Bishop of Itanagar Rt.Rev.John Thomas. In his message, he urged upon the youth to embrace the members of diverse tribes as their own brothers and sisters. This was followed by quiz competition on the holy bible, choir singing competition. The festival also saw musical bands from Imphal, Kohima and Bonaigaon diocese regaling the audience. The second day of the festival was graced by Archbishop Emeritus Rt.Rev.Thomas Menamparampill, Chairman, Don Bosco society, Fr. V. M. Thomas and captain Jaison.

 

 

 

 

This is the first time that a youth talent has been organized in the city at the regional level. Such festivals are organized with aim to bring together all youth, who are vulnerable lot and   can be easily misled to indulge in unlawful activities. In such festivals we try to promote the spiritual growth of the youths by enlightening them on leadership, peace, unity and integrity. The fact that youth from different tribes and states came together fostered a sense of unity among them.  Archbishop of Guwahati John Moolachira, Inaugurated the festival. Bishop of Itanagar Rev. John Thomas, NERYC Director Fr. Marcus Lakra, Principal of Don Bosco School Fr. Fr. Anthony Thekkel, Archbishop Emeritus Thomas menamparambil, Fr. V.M. Thomas provincial of Guwahati province and captain Jaison were present on the occasion. The first day of the festival comprised a cultural show were the participants did in colorful traditional attires, presented their respective ethnic music and dances.The second day comprised  a quiz competition on the teachings  of the bible  also to open the year of faith there was a enthronement of bible, and dance competition.


The festival offered youth from different ethnic groups of the North East a good opportunity to showcase their dance forms, music and traditional attires .But the most important factor is that festival helped foster a bond of love and togetherness among the youth from differ
