The all awaited Summer Camp was held on 29th May to 1st June, 2015 with a number of 150 participants at St. Stephen’s Church, Kalyanpur. The chief guest of the programme was the most respected Fr. Jonas the Vicar General. The other distinguished guests who graced the occasion were Fr.Proloy, Fr.Britto, Fr.Augustine Tushar, Bro.Uttam Fr.Souman and Fr.Onshu. Nuns from RNDM, Helpers sisters and a few lay persons from the parish were also present for the event. 

The first day of the event was welcomed with the well arranged Inaugural function put up by the Kalyanpur parish youth. The function comprised of lighting the lamp by the chief guest and the other distinguished guests. The function was officially unveiled with the welcome dance by the Kalyanpur parish youth. Following it, Fr.Arup Bor the youth director addressed the participants and put forth the purpose of the event. He also emphasised the need for the youth to be competitive in the world as a catholic as well as a professional. Fr.Jonas the Vicar General too highlighted the importance of the youth to be competitive in the contemporary world. The day was adorned with a session by Fr.Kanauj Ray. In his session, the priest presented the technicalities of youth to youth evangelisation. The first day thus was brought to an end with a sumptuous meal and a mind blowing get together by the vibrant youth.

Fr.Proloy the youth adviser presided over the morning mass and rolled out the red carpet for the second day. Since this year is dedicated to consecrated life the fore noon was dedicated to vocation and its promotion. Fathers and sisters of various congregations were welcomed to present their charism. Sisters from Loreto, AC, Helpers and RNDM and fathers from different dioceses came forward to present about their individual congregation’s charism. After the short vocation promotion the youth felicitated the priests and sisters. They thanked them and gave a memento each. In the second half the youth were enlightened with career guidance which (career) is always a moot question for them. The guidance session was taken by Mr.Satardu Biswas who has had the experience of the pursuit on the career. It followed a workshop on the role of the youth in the Church. The day’s end was warmly wrapped with a taize prayer.

The penultimate waking hours was a festive one. Festive, for the sole reason of the feast of Holy Trinity. Fr.John Britto the parish priest presided over the mass on the occasion. A unique session on socio political leadership by Ms.Babli Das was introduced this time. “We are educated and need to be responsible in our secular lives as well as a catholic” said the ma’am. She presented to the youth the means through which one can be effective as a catholic and an honest citizen. A motivation on career by Mr. Lawrence Gomes with an ice breaker followed the session. The main attraction was the exhibition competition on the subject Disaster in Nepal. The youth from Sojnaberia won the first prize and the second and third by Kaurapukur and Thakurpukur. Quiz competition had the winners Kaurapukur, 1st runners up as Ranighar and the 2nd runners up as Cathedral Church, Baruipur. The Essay Competition which followed had the winners Kaurapukur 1st and 2nd runners up as Kalyanpur and Ranighar. The youth empowerment session by Fr.Ujjwal Mondal, ex regional youth director added more colour and taste to the speciality of the day. Cultural programme from all the parishes crowned it all.

The time came for the event to end. The mass on the auspicious occasion was presided over by Fr. Arup. Soon after the Holy Eucharist the winners of the competitions were distributed prizes. The whole programme was culminated with a thanksgiving ceremony. Thus before the noon everyone parted in different ways for their destiny.
